Day 23 - Your Best Birthday Memory

Writer's picture: Lindsay VeeLindsay Vee

I can’t remember the year, but what I do remember is that my older sister, Carrie, planned the whole thing. She was probably 10 and I really don’t know why she did it, but she did a great job. She invited our friend from church, Emily, over and had a scavenger hunt around the house all planned out. There were riddles and clues taking us from place to place. And at each point there were little prizes. It’s my best birthday memory because it was such a sweet thing for Carrie to do for me. She even used her own money for it. She’s super generous as an adult, but it clearly started way early.

One thing we always did for birthdays, and I believe my parents still do it today, is we spend time with my Aunt Cindy and Uncle Ken. One family always went to the other’s house where there was generally cake and ice cream. Then the kids would usually end up outside on the trampoline during the warmer months or we’d all play cards inside the house.
