ABOUT LINDSAY VEE HUMPHREY

As an agricultural journalist, I know every person has a unique story to tell. I love forging relationships with people to put their life's work down on paper. I've been a journalist since 2014 and am always seeking ways to improve my craft. I enjoy diving headfirst into a topic no matter the subject. As a curious and proactive journalist, I am driven by the ever changing industry of print and digital media trends and the future of storytelling.

A BIT ABOUT ME

Photos by Silver Lining Media (Megan Silveira)

An Oklahoma transplant since 2012, I didn't discover my affinity for writing until my second semester at Oklahoma State University. After six years in the land where the water is still, I had obtained a bachelor's degree in animal science and agricultural communications coupled with a master's degree in animal science.

I garnered the soft skills needed for telling the stories of agriculture and put those to good use as the assistant editor of the Angus Journal. Although I loved working for the Business Breed, I loved horses more which lead me to becoming the manager of public relations and communications for the National Reining Horse Association.

In March 2021, I decided to pursue freelance writing full-time as I supported my husband, Kennedy, while he trained to be a pilot for the Air Force Reserves. During that season of life, we added Augustus Lyle to our family. Now a full-fledged preschooler, Gus became a proud big brother to Lorelai Vee in March 2024. Freelance writing has given me the freedom to be a stay-at-home mom while continuing to use the gift God gave me as a writer.

As I've leaned into these roles for what they are rather what I think they should be, the Lord has made it clear that I'm right where He needs me to be. As I keep my focus on what matters, the Lord has brought writing opportunities my way. In doing so, I've been able to shine a light on the ways the Lord has been working in the lives of the people I get to write about. I used to think my heart was beating so I could write, but I've come to realize that was a small way to think about life.

I'm here to be the hands and feet of Jesus in whatever way He sees fit. Right now, that looks like being at home with my kids while writing stories about the people who make the Western industry a diverse yet inclusive place for cowboys and cowgirls of every generation. The details that go into those stories almost always include a connection to God as He guides their steps through this life in ways that only He can.
