It happened, I finally missed a day. I knew it was inevitable but I was doing so good that I thought it would be a little later on in the 30 days. Oh well. My favorite childhood memory is more of a broad category. My siblings and I used to play horses ALL THE TIME. I'm sure you're wondering, "how do you play horses?" Allow me to explain all the ways, because there are quite a few.

Probably our favorite way to play horses was on the trampoline because it was the easiest place to crawl around on our hands and knees and actually "feel" like we were horses. It's funny to think about now, but we had such a good time. I'm sure our parents got some entertainment as well. One can only hope at least. We would play for hours on end and then come inside at dusk with our hands and knees black from the trampoline. I would venture to guess that my parent's favorite part of our fascination with play horses was when we had developed a "play" for them to watch. I can't say how often this occurred, but it seemed like a lot. And I bet it felt that way to them too. Sorry about that.

When we couldn't go outside to play horses, we found multiple ways to have fun inside. Of course being the horse was always the preference because then you got to use the tail made of yarn and horses are way cooler than people, clearly. Usually the couch was nominated to be the horse. I have no idea what exactly we did on there, but as you can see, we had a great time. Other times we continued the trampoline shenanigans inside and just crawled around on the carpet.

And finally, the ever popular stick horses. I remember one day we set up a huge jumping course in the basement when we lived in Colorado. It seemed quite elaborate at the time, but I don't believe it was in reality as I think back on it. But I do know we used cattle show sticks for one of our jumps. And we were members of The Saddle Club. And then when the real horse trailer left the property, our stick horses also got "loaded" and participated. I asked mom if they made me run the entire barrel pattern, which is quite larger, in the picture below and she said she couldn't remember. I think that translates to yes. And I will bet I slept super hard that night because of it.
