Day 06 - What are You Afraid of

Writer's picture: Lindsay VeeLindsay Vee

Just like anyone else, I'm afraid of quite a lot. Of course there are the small things: snakes, needles, the dentist, those types of things. But when I think a little harder, things get pretty dark quickly. I'm afraid of running out of time on earth, losing my husband way too young, losing Gus, losing my dogs, making other people feel inferior or unloved. But what I'm most afraid of is not fulfilling my God-given purpose.

It's an odd fear to hold on to because there's nothing I can do to detract from what God has planned for my life. Even taking detours that seem like they would be against His will were all part of the road map he constructed in the first place. It's convenient that I really can't ruin God's plan for my life no matter how hard I try, but that doesn't make this fear any less debilitating.

I've been lucky that someone taught me how to hear the voice of the Lord. To combat my fear of missing out on God's plan for my life, all I need to do is spend time in His word and then walk out what he tells me to do. It's much more simple in word than in action, but at least it's a step-by-step method.
